Deirdre & Jim were wed this past Saturday, May 6th, at the
Mansion at Strathmore in Bethesda, Maryland. Their ceremony was held in the Music room, with beautiful harp music and a grand piano as their backdrop. Flowers by
Like Water for Tulips draped the aisle, and the fireplace mantle at the front of the room was elegantly decorated. The ceremony seemed very intimate, even though their 115 closest friends and family were all in the room.
The celebration continued at
Centro Italian Grill in Bethesda, which closed for their lunch hour to accomodate the party. The bride and groom were introduced by yours truly, and they played their favorite CDs on the restaurant's speaker system. You really can't go wrong with Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra! Their only 'traditional' wedding event was a cake cutting, which they did near the end of the meal.
Cakes by Linda provided a beautiful cake - I only wish I got to eat some before heading out the door! I'm looking forward to seeing photos by Tracy at
Timmester Photography, so hopefully I can share them with you!
After the reception, the couple invited everyone to an after party at the groom's condo clubhouse. They hired a DJ, bartender, and waiter off of
Craigslist, which worked out extremely well!
Joanna helped me throughout the day, and by the time we got there the place had mostly been set up! What a change of pace for us!
Dierdre & Jim hired Soiree quite a few months ago, and were one of the rare couples that didn't meet me before booking. They have lived all over the world, but most recently the bride was in Atlanta while planning a DC wedding. I have to admit that although I only met them for the first time a week out from their wedding, they're one of my favorite couples and I'd help coordinate their vow renewal ceremony in a heartbeat!
Their beautiful ceremony, trendy reception, and nontraditional afterparty made this one of the best wedding's I've coordinated. The bride and groom were so completely in love and the wedding was totally personalized, very different, and all the guests had a great time. You really can't ask for a better combination!
