Open House @ The Torpedo Factory

The Torpedo Factory, quite possibly one of the coolest venues in town, hosted an open house Wednesday evening to showcase their space and allow for some networking amongst the DC event professionals crowd. So what do wedding planners do in their spare time? Here's some photos of the event:

Jessie & Cara from Federal City Caterers displayed yummy hors d'oeuvres on a beautiful black and white linen accented by a sunflower centerpiece. The mini tuna tacos, pineapple pork kebabs, and Oreo & key lime pie parfaits were fabulous:This 'chocolate sips' station by Occasions Caterers featured 5 different types of melted chocolate. They handed you the sample in a mini cup and you could either sip it straight (imagine melted fudge) or dip a homemade marshmallow or cookie into it. YUM:Avalon Caterers showed off their meddling bar which included fresh fruit and sweet or sour fruit-infused liquors:Cheryl from Capitol Catering had a beautiful spread of hors d'oeuvres and desserts. Flowers were provided by Helen Olivia. My favorite were the mini white-chocolate-dipped strawberry shortcakes on a stick:
Rod Tompkins Music provided background cocktail music. He was really great! I think I even recognized some Jimmy Buffett thrown in the mix (props!):Catering by Windows had a beautiful dessert display. The mini eclaires were pretty sinful:I should also take note to mention MarcParc, who provided valet for the event as well as John Farr who set up the beautiful lighting you see in the photos. Main Event Caterers was also there but we didn't get a snapshot of their setup. Thanks Tara, for hosting such a beautiful event!
