ISES REC - Part III
Missed Part I or Part II?
Sunday night after the first day of classes, there was a social event held at American Locomotive Works in Providence. This cool warehouse space is actually waiting to be leased as an office. In the meantime, what a great place for a party!!
Following the "ON FIRE" theme, the entry had these amazing ice sculptures with fire inside. There was also this creepy devil guy standing guard:The sculptures were really awesome. There was a hole in the bottom where they fed a metal tube and ran propane through to the carved area of the ice. Big chunks of ice on the ground created a border so people didn't get too close:The party:The stir-fry station which was flipped to dessert later:Cocktail table and stools. The plexiglass had a pattern made by an electric sander and a very artistic person:The bar. Note all the LED uplights placed under each plexiglass piece:The effect without my camera's flash:The band's setup:There was a really cool smoke curtain that streamed fog from a long tube above. Then they projected images onto the fog. Here are some flames to fit the fire theme:Creepy devil guy made an appearance in the center of the dance floor and posed for several photos with guests. I was too scared to get close so this one was taken on the sly:I can't tell you how cool it is to attend a party thrown by an association of event professionals! This event was just amazing and I was inspired by their creativity with the theme and the combination of the lighting, decor, and music to create a great atmosphere. All in all, the guy who put everything together estimated that it would cost about $160K at retail. Luckily they had a lot of great sponsors who provided their services for free. I kind of want to go back and just hang out there!
Stay tuned for Part IV!
